There’s a lot of admiration for simplicity in sophistication that you find when you look around on social media – minimalism, essentialism, decluttering, debloating, and on and on. While I have sympathy for keeping things simple in my life, I have one most important criticism regarding this simplification megatrend.
There are fairly many things, especially in technology, that are complex and complicated by nature, and that you shouldn’t try to reduce to something more simple, because it simply can’t without missing essential parts of it’s nature. While simplification is a real blessing, oversimplification is a real curse.
